Answer: The gTHIRA System uses the ANSI/ASIS Physical Asset Protection Standard and the United States DHS, FEMA, Comprehensive Preparedness Guide 201 as its primary guideline. gTHIRA follows these four primary steps to achieve desired goals:

Question #5: What types of intelligence does gTHIRA utilize?
Answer: gTHIRA incorporates a dashboard that searches and consolidates information derived from open sources of Traditional Media, Crime Statistics (where available), Domain Awareness (terrain intelligence) and Social Media.

The system has the unique ability to fuse this information, isolate it and enhance it by locating the source of the information. gTHIRA also has a site vulnerability assessment software solution integrated into the system, allowing for the end user to conduct as many facility security assessments as desired.

Additionally, gTHIRA has a filter that separates usable information from non-usable information, analyzes the content of that information, and geocentrically locates it on the map. This information is measured against each collocated Site Vulnerability Assessments to determine its impact and consequences to the facility’s vulnerabilities and an overall risk level is calculated.

The intelligence system automatically changes the colors of the icons on the dashboard based on its risk score. Access to your own personalized dashboard, will give you complete control of the types of threats/hazards you want displayed, as well as the sources you wanted the system to pull from (i.e. Traditional Media, Social Media, and Terrain Intelligence).

Question #6: What does gTHIRA do with all the data it collects?
Answer: After the system collects “Open Source” Intelligence, consisting of 55,000 live feeds and Twitter feeds, gTHIRA uses guidelines and algorithms produced by subject matter experts like the police, Department of Defense, security professionals etc. to evaluate the information. Using these guidelines allows the system to conduct a rapid analysis of that information and transfer it onto an electronic map.

Question #7: Can I choose the specific location where I will be traveling?
Answer: Yes. Navigating the Electronic Map is easy. You can zoom in and out using a facility place mark, using the mouse zoom wheel and navigation controls. You can also type in a specific address, city, state and zip code into the search box in the Fly To search panel. Alternatively, if you would like to select a general area, you can choose a location by selecting the “Show Overall Risks” button next to the “Search” button.

Question #8: Besides terrorist threats, what other types of hazards can be determined?
Answer: By selecting “Natural Hazards”, the system can display live sensors from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), satellite readings from the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), so that you can observe the potential risks.

Answer: gTHIRA allows you to choose when to “Start Capturing” information within a given area. Depending on the number of tweets or keyword searches you would like the system to gather, you can select or deselect Capturing at your discretion. gTHIRA, in conjunction with 001 and its Command Center will filter out the information that is important in determining the level of danger within a given area.
